The longer I have a pup, the better the photos I get.
It took me a while to notice, but a glance at my archives reveals a dramatic truth: The longer I have a particular foster pup, the better my photos are. When they first get here, they're not sure what's up. But they settle. And then they start to trust me. And then they REALLY trust me. And that's when I get the kind of prolonged eye contact that gives me a shot like this. (That's Steffi, who became Lucky in more ways than one when she was adopted by my friend Linda.)
